By August 14, 2013No Comments

1. We aren’t saved by perfection

Pastor: If the people had a stronger commitment to (Bible, Justice, Ethical life, Church, Stewardship) we would be a great church.

Congregation: “I’m leaving this church. It’s full of a bunch of hypocrites.

2. We aren’t saved by education:

Pastor: I’m going to insist that all new members have 30 hours of training on what it means to be a member.

Congregation: The pastor should do a better job of teaching  us in his or her sermons.

3. Jesus was serious about loving our enemies

Pastor: If five families in this church would disappear, ministry wouldn’t be so difficult.

Congregation: Our congregation needs to separate from the denomination because they have taken the wrong position on things I strongly believe.

4. It’s Not About Me

Pastor: The congregation doesn’t appreciate me and the hard work I do.

Congregation: The church is not meeting my needs.

5. We are saved by Grace

Pastor: How can that miserable so and so claim to be a Christian.

Congregation: Let’s fire the pastor. His behavior is an embarrassment to us.
