I recently tried to blog while away from home and it does not appear that it was posted. I was at a board meeting of the Presbytery Pastoral Care Network. It is a valuable contact to have. www.pastoralcarenetwork.org . For several years it has been focused on developing strategies of support for clergy. We will be offering several workshops at the Big Tent Meeting of the Presbyterian Church under the category of healthy ministries as well as having a one day pre-conference meeting on Thursday, June 11 at the Hyatt in Atlanta.
We are also developing an online Tool Kit around pastoral care issues. You might want to go to their web page for more information.
I will be exploring three dimensions of the care of clergy. What the presbytery can do, what congregations can do, and what clergy can do. All three are important in addressing the health of pastors and educators as they work for congregations.
I will share some of our work as it is developed on this blog. I invite your feedback. What is it that you think the judicatories should be doing? what should the congregations be doing? and what should the clergy and educators do to care for themselves?
Let me know what you think.
