The Message By Steve McCutchan BEST IF YOU HEAR THIS BY READING IT ALOUD. ENJOY Long ago, the prophets declared when the people in darkness were ensnared and wondered whether God or anyone cared A voice would say your problem is shared. From the sky, I hear you moan I’ve come from heaven to set the tone On this great world a light has shown. The righteous will know they’re not alone Joseph was a righteous man He always gave the needy a hand He worked as hard as anyone can and from all evil Joseph ran. Single and handsome and very smart The girls in the village said he turned their heart. But not towards marriage would he make a start Til the day towards Mary his eyes did dart. Mary was kind, and pretty and sweet And Joseph was soon swept off his feet But an angel did this young girl meet With God’s full favor he did greet. Joseph heard she was with child And he was hardly meek and mild Its safe to say he was really riled But for divorce he had not filed. Cause that very night Joe began to dream. An angel told him God had a scheme To change the world he needed a team of people who walked, and ran upstream. So Joseph took her for his wife and continued to work with hammer and knife To build a crib for this new life To bring to the world an end to strife. The prophets said when the world is dark it’s time to listen to the angels hark! so Joseph put his judgments in park And waited for God to make His mark. Tonight let laughter fill the air in children’s eyes we see God’s care. We know our burdens we can bare Cause hope is born from out of despair Now listen to me you noble men And all you women who feel the yen If a child feels it, you also can So let the people say Amen
