- If you were to invite a friend to your church, name 3-4 features of the church you would point to. EG, programs, special ministries, type of people, quality of worship, music, etc.
Identify briefly 3-4 items you would share
- If God chose to gather people into this church with special gifts, what are some of the gifts that you see in our membership that might indicate part of God’s intention for putting us together.
Name 3-4 gifts you see in our membership:
- In looking at the issue of racism in both church and society and using the Christian faith as our guide, are we best served by
- avoiding the subject or
- making use of Scriptures and Christ’s commands to guide us as a church?
Make 3-4 brief statements of what you believe.
- Knowing that the subject of racism can be controversial, how does Scripture record how Jesus responded when his words or actions caused controversy?
Give 3-4 brief examples from Jesus’ life.
- If Jesus were to address our congregation about the issue of racism in the Christian church, what are 2-3 ways Jesus might speak to us.
You can either quote Scripture or paraphrase what you recall from Jesus in Scripture.
- Knowing that Scripture describes God as working through imperfect people and communities, would you support our church addressing the sin of racism even if we did it imperfectly?
As imperfect people, what are three rules we should adhere to as we approach this subject?
- In no more than two to five sentences, what additional advice would you share with the congregational leadershipas we embark on this ministry?
