I CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF ORDINATION

By October 5, 20185 Comments

I’m in New York City this week at Union Theological Seminary. I have returned to celebrate with my classmates the 50th anniversary of our graduation.

FIFTY YEARS OF MINISTRY. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE.

WHILE THERE HAVE BEEN UPS AND DOWNS, I CAN’T IMAGINE A GREATER BLESSING THAN THESE PAST FIFTY YEARS.

IF YOU ARE CLERGY, I PLEAD WITH YOU TO BE GOOD STEWARDS OF THE BODY GOD GAVE YOU AND BE OPEN TO THE CREATIVE SPIRIT WHO HAS YET THINGS FOR YOU TO DO.

GOD IS NOT THROUGH WITH THE CHURCH, EVEN THE IMPERFECT CHURCH. AS SCRIPTURES SUGGEST, GOD SEEMS TO HAVE A FONDNESS FOR WORKING WITH RASCALS.

Well, God surely found a rascal worth calling FRIEND in you, my friend–and also the stable McCutchan, Sandy, who is a gem. Enjoy your reunion, and be sure to enhance every good memory with lots of stories.
