Audacious Faith in a Persistent God
The audacious affirmation
That Christ is born,
That all eternity finds expression
In one human soul,
That God is love and life
That Divine grace finds expression,
In one child, fragile and unprotected,
Challenges the logic of the world.Christmas is the mass of Christ,
The liturgy of life
That lifts the hope of God
As a challenge to the sins of humanity. In the silence of a small village,
In the arms of a peasant couple
Easily overlooked by what the world
Deems important,
God says let there be light,
And the light shines in darkness
And the darkness cannot overcome it.Ministry is a journey
Inspired by the life of Jesus.
Both the moments of triumph and despair
Mirror both the celebration of Palm Sunday
And the darkness of Gethsemane.
We move from “My God, my God why . .”
To “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
And when we peer through the thin spaces,
We see God preparing a table even in the midst of our enemies,
But we also see the cross.
We wait again for a Word that can call order from chaos.A persistent God
Refuses to be silent
And hope is born in love
Faith is the nobility of the soul
God saw it was very good.
