Rebecca Spooner, Director of the Laurence Schmidt Center, publishes a good newsletter that focuses on clergy wellness. You can contact her at laurenceschmidtcenter77@yahoo.com
In her latest issue, she speaks of practicing wellness and identifies a network of counselors that they have developed to support pastors in practicing wellness. While it is not available to everyone, it does provide a model of what others can do. She describes the following:
Practicing Wellness is not about starting that new fad diet that you will crash
and burn on in future weeks. It is about finding one area (or more) where you want
to discover an increase in what God intended for your life – mentally, spiritually,
physically and emotionally.
To help you out, we have established the Clergy Counseling Network. This Network
is a group of therapists around the state who are people of Christian faith and
licensed counselors with experience working with clergy and their families. If
you are a Methodist pastor (elder, deacon, or local pastor), sessions are provided
for you at a reduced rate of $50/session.
If you are a member of the Presbytery of Arkansas or the Presbytery of the Pines,
you may receive your six free sessions from any of these therapists, including me.

Building a network of resources for care of clergy is a good way to begin the new year.
