Ten Statements About My Faith Journey

By August 1, 2011No Comments

If you had to make ten statements that reflected your faith at this point in your life, what would they be? Don’t try to cover all the basis. Simply try to write ten statements that you can affirm. You can always add others later but this is a good way of identifying where you are on your journey. Here is mine.

1.God is real and actively involved in the world.
2. God has called me to ministry.
3. God is trustworthy even if i don’t fully understand God.
4. The person of Jesus Christ is a reliable reflection of the character of God.
5. While revelation can come in many forms, Scripture is an effective cannon for measuring my understanding of God’s purpose.
6. Looking back over the twists and turns of my life, I am acutely aware of God’s providential and guiding hand.
7. Part of the mystery of God is found in God’s choice to establish the church and work through it for the salvation of the world. As disappointed as I can get with aspects of the church, I’m drawn to it as God’s instrument of salvation.
8. God’s righteousness and Compassion call me to continually be concerned about justice and mercy in my ministry.
9. Because God is omniscient and I am finite, I need to always be aware that my understanding is limited and be open to God’s word speaking to me beyond my understanding.
10. My ego and pride can create barriers to my journey of faithfulness. I need to always be willing to step back and listen to the new thing God is trying to say to me.
