WHAT IF . . .

(TWELVE WAYS YOU CAN BE A WINNER!!!!)

WHAT IF you actually wrote a short story and submitted it to the Presbyterian Writers Guild short story phase of the Experiment in Modern Parables Contest by FEBRUARY 15?

There is a pretty good chance you would be a winner in at least one of these ways:

  1. You would act on what has been just a fantasy of sharing your gift as a writer with others.
  2. In writing the story, you would be surprised at the pleasure of seeing how the story unfolds and the characters develop a life of their own.
  3. A parable is a story thrown alongside of life to make you think. Your modern parable might make others think more deeply about an issue.
  4. By participating, you will connect with others who are interested in writing stories with a spiritual edge.
  5. You will become an active member of the Presbyterian Writers Guild and share in other activities with the community.
  6. The top eight stories will have their opening paragraphs published in The Writer and, therefore, get exposure to the writing community.
  7. The top stories get some feedback from editors in the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation.
  8. The top stories will be included in a book of contest winners published by the Presbyterian Writers Guild and distributed at the next General Assembly.
  9. The top four authors will get an Amazon gift card and, therefore, get to buy some more books guilt-free.
  10. The second place winner will have the full story published on the Presbyterian Outlook Web page.
  11. The winner will have the story published in the Presbyterian Outlook
  12. ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE USED A GIFT GOD GAVE YOU WHICH GOD CAN USE TO DEEPEN THE SPIRITUAL LIFE OF OTHERS.

(See rules at www.presbyterianwritersguild.org and make submissions to presbwriterscontest@gmail.com )  Open to anyone who joins the Guild ($25). We Presbyterians love to be ecumenical.)

It’s a great way to make a New Year’s Resolution and complete it in the first couple of months.

What if you are a winner and you only have to take the bushel off your light and let it shine?
